ANNOUNCEMENTS

PICTURE DAY IS COMING UP ON SEPTEMBER 23 AND 24.  SCHEDULE TO SOON FOLLOW...

Picture
In preparation for the assembly on January 24th, students are required to memorize their lines, EXPERT WORD CARDS or CHARACTER CARDS, for a "Walk Through the Ancient World," which is 2.5 hour assembly that the students will participate in.  To the right is a link to the California Weekly Explorer website, which has your child's card.

Please encourage your child to dress up as well.  This is a fun event that will be remembered.  We also encourage parents and relatives to join us for the assembly.

Expert Word or Character Cards

No Mechanical Pencils in Room 15

Mechanical pencils have proven to be the wrong tool for students, and the reasons are:
     1)  The led used is too light on the newsprint to be seen easily.
Note-taking and student work should be easily visible for the
teacher to monitor and for the student to self-monitor the
understandings of a particular lesson objective
     2) The led breaks off too easily.
     3) Lots of time is wasted in trying to reload the pencil with led.
     4) And very often, children are distracted and play with the led.
