Ratios and Proportions: Videos

Here are some videos to help with understanding ratios and proportional relationships.  The Khan Academy has plenty of videos on the subject of ratios and is an excellent resource for almost every math lesson.  Math Antics is another excellent resource when it comes to understanding our math concepts and is actually quite entertaining.  If and when you get lost, check out these two resources for a little more help.  To the right are links to both websites:

SCALED PROJECTS AND MODELS
Picture
Students will create a miniature scale project.  Miniature books are popular, but any miniature project will be accepted.  Be sure to be able to identify the scale.

Students will create a jumbo scale project.  Giant versions of games are popular as in Jenga and Chess, but any jumbo project will be accepted.  Be sure to be able to identify the increase in scale.

FORCED PERSPECTIVE PHOTGRAPHS
For this assignment, students will take out the cameras and create a unique forced perspective photograph.  If you are going to use your own camera, then photographs will need to be sent to Mr. Miller via email.  If you do not have a camera, then you may check out one of Mr. Miller's cameras.  I will be responsible for printing the picture, and we will display these photographs when we do an art gallery walk through at some point this year.  Below are some examples of what we are looking for, but remember we are looking for your own unique voice to be captured through the lens.  Your photos may be preserved here for future classes.
